1/24 scale boat models - J-class and Others
Our 1:16 scale models of the J-class boats have proven to be quite popular with builders that have the facilities to build them, and the vehicle to move them around. They are big models!
Because of their popularity, we thought it would be great fun to bring the excitement of building these wonderful models to a much large group of modellers. Specifically, these boats are quite pointy at the bow and the stern, meaning we had to continue to make them big enough to fit servos and steering gear under the deck. Also, since we cannot scale the wind or the water, we didn’t want to make the boats too small and force modellers to use external ballast.
In 1:24 scale, then, we have found a good balance between sailing quality and standardization. This scale allows users to consider literally millions of parts for detailing and allows us to consider a large variety of subjects to design.

Other Yachts and Ships in 1:24 scale
Of course, a great favorite would be Bluenose. I think this would make a wonderful model at that scale. So would the Elsie, Henry S. Ford, Columbia, and Gertrude L. Thebaud, all ships that raced against Bluenose for the International Fisherman’s Trophy.
