Triton Timber – A Canadian Company and a World Leader in Underwater Logging

Triton Timber approached us in October of 2024 and asked us to produce two models of their patented logging technology for January 2025. We took up the challenge and produced the two models on time. One of the models is going to their offices in B.C. Canada and the other is heading out to be part of their trade show kiosks.

From the Triton Timber website:

Since 2000, Triton has led the development of the underwater logging industry through technology design, harvest concession development, inventory assessments, logging services, and eco-wood sales.

Using its patented SHARC and SAWFISH Underwater Harvester systems, Triton recovers standing, submerged timber at virtually any depth in a safe, efficient and environmentally-friendly manner.”

It was a real pleasure building these models for this great Canadian company.

Designing the Model

The model was designed by our engineering team in Lorraine, Quebec, using the best traditional manufacturing design software.

3D-Printing and Assembly

All parts were printed using resin printing technology. This gives very good quality for these 1:48 scale parts and allowed us to come up with a variety of ideas for the structure and even for the lighting. At one point, we even had lighting at the bottom of the cutter, just like on the real unit. However, in the end, we had to make some compromises in order to balance the integrity of the model with some of the details we wanted to incorporate.

Fabricating the Water Surface and the Dioramas

The water surface was laser-cut so the barge would fit precisely. There are tabs in the surface and the barge is fabricated as a top and a bottom that are fastened together. All contacts are hidden, of course.

The trees that pass through the water have steel rods through them. This makes them structural as well as decorative.

The outside acrylic top is made of 1/4″ acrylic, giving it a look of glass, and adding to the rigidity of the whole display.

Forum Bois Construction France - 2025

One of the models was crated in Montreal and shipped to the Triton Timber offices in B.C. Canada and the other was driven to Production Case Company, in Ottawa, Canada. Since Triton Timber wants this model to travel to a number of trade shows, it was important to get the best packaging possible for the model. Production Case is the right company for the job.

The first presentation of the model was a success. After initial issues upon the arrival of the model were solved, the model was well-received at the show, and our happy client is looking forward to seeing the model at the next show in June.

We want to thank Triton Timber for giving us the opportunity to work with them on this project and look forward to collaborating again in the future.
