1/12 scale boat models
A lovely scale to work with, sometimes called “doll-house scale”, this scale is simple to use and allows for a very quick visualization of the dimension of a model relative to the real object. In this scale, we find several sailboats, workboats, and powerboats. Many parts are available in the aftermarket, as well, from the dollhouse industry as well as from the scale automotive space. This scale results in large models that have real presence while still fitting in a car.
Malabar VI is one of the series of John Alden sloops, schooners and yawls which he designed and used personally in the 1920’s, selling each after some time to build the next.
Some of the earlier ones, including VI, were based on the well-known Gloucester fishing schooner form. In general, the boats evolved to become larger and more complex over time.
They were successful ocean racers and represent a classic look and character.
